The Slipway Co-operative does all timber related jobs on boats. Apart from all traditional boatbuilding work, that includes teak deck strips on boats of every material, freestanding joinery work, fit-out work, etc. We work on yachts, workboats, passenger ferries, etc. The 'Whisp' we build is an ultra lightweight skiff that can be sailed or rowed, designed by Steve Redmond. It is build with 4 mm. ply, and for longevity we used 6 mm.ply for the bottom, glassed over. This took the weight up to 90 pounds. This particular boat was fitted out just for rowing, as the customer wanted the exercise, and it is a joy to see her gliding by every now and again!
